filter press is utilized to purify liquids in large volumes and with high accuracy. Generally, filter press plates are provided with 20, 25 and 30 millimeters of cake thickness and 32, 35 and 40 millimeters cakes can be manufactured to order. Some of filter press advantages are low moisture cake, easy disposal, light weight and corrosion resistance polymer plates, flexible and non-breakable plates, temperature and pressure tolerance up to 120 degrees Celsius and 16 bars respectively. Filter press spare parts like handles, scrapers, valves and knees are accessible. Filter presses are used in various industries including water and wastewater, mining, food and other industries.

What is filter press?
Filter press is a type of solid-liquid filtration that is used to separate suspended solids from liquids. Usually, these filters are utilized in various industries like mining, chemical, food and water treatment industries.
Filter press consists of a high-pressure system that is applied to the solid-liquid mixture. Filter press mechanism includes the following steps:
- Filling: in this step, the liquid-solid mixture enters the filter press. Liquid (e.g., water) passes through filtration cloths and suspended solids get trapped between filter press plates.
- Pressing: once the filter is filled, it goes under heavy pressure. This pressure can be provided by pressurized air, ** ,hydraulic or mechanic systems.
- Separation: in this step, liquid that is separated from solids exits the filter press. Suspended solids inside of the filter press remain as a block that is called filter press cake. Filter press cake is disposed upon opening filter press plates.
- Cleaning and drying: after separating the solids, it is time to clean and dry filter press plates. Once cloths and plates of filter press are cleaned, filter press closes and its ready for another round of liquid intake.
Due to high pressure and excellent separation capabilities of filter press, in some industries it is utilized to separate solids from liquids. Also, these filters have high capacities and they can be used in large industrial scale.
